The Pandemic has forced businesses to shift to online operations and there has been a massive adoption of remote working culture and online learning, resulting in digitalisation on an unprecedented scale. Along with the shift to online has also come an unacceptable rise in cybersecurity issues.

With rising ransomware cyberattacks on IT infrastructure, businesses have realized the importance of embracing zero tolerance for gaps in their security strategy. They are increasingly investing on strengthening their cybersecurity to secure their crown jewels and their valuable data. This has thrown open a big opportunity for cybersecurity players.

As the India market remains in the eye of a major digital transformation buoyed by a tech-centred Union Budget,   SME Channels embarks upon recording the voices of the who’s who of the Cybersecurity landscape.

As part of our effort to make the voices of major security players heard by the channel community, here is the Security Predictions from Security major SonicWall.

In a special interaction with SME Channels, Debasish Mukherjee, Vice President, Regional Sales – APAC at SonicWall Inc., reveals his organization’s strategy to address growing need for security solutions from customers, his predictions for the cybersecurity industry in 2022 and his vision and plans for the channel community. Edited excerpts…

As the pandemic has completely disrupted the market with the massive adoption of remote working and hybrid clouds, what major market trends do you foresee in 2022?

Cloud migration has moved at a rapid pace, especially during this pandemic era. Many companies have been forced to adopt more flexible infrastructure models in the shortest possible timelines.  The pandemic scenario across the world will continue to demand robust Cyber Security solutions as organizations know that risks are only increasing and expect more than a 50 % surge in reportable incidents from last year.

Increased use of cloud and mobile computing, IoT devices, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, etc. has added new levels of risk, complexity, and costs to securing an organization’s data and intellectual property. Organizations of every size must now combat a wide range of increasingly sophisticated threats, including advanced persistent threats (APTs), cybercriminal activity, spam, and malware.

What major channel trends would you forecast for 2022?

According to research, the global Managed Security Services Partner (MSSP) market size is projected to grow from USD 22.8 billion in 2021 to USD 43.7 billion by 2026, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 13.9% during the forecast period.

In India, the MSSP market is set for robust growth in the next 5 years due to the strong push from the government on digitisation nationwide along with the rapidly rising frequency of cybercrimes making organisations feel the pressure to take preventive action against potential threats.

Specially SMB customers will get great advantage of MSSP services and not only bring ease of use but also give them less pressure on capex.

As a major market player, what major security trends would you forecast for 2022?

The pandemic has changed the way businesses work and the way IT secures them. Now, more than ever, organizations will have to deploy solutions to manage and secure all endpoints. As ransomware and credential theft become increasingly more pervasive, endpoints have become the battleground of today’s threat landscape.

Cloud adoption has accelerated drastically in today’s times,  which means a major rise in demand and need for cloud-ready security solutions. These security solutions must meet the same levels of agility, flexibility, and scale to meet the adoption needs, which also requires a great deal of automation and artificial intelligence (AI).

This year will be more focus on Remote mobility, focus on Email Security and Advance End point Security and focus will be on visibility and automated threat hunting and remediation technologies.

Any major channel expansion in the pipeline for 2022?
