(L-R) Saket Kapur, General Secretary, PCAIT | Alok Gupta, President, PCAIT

Nehru Place finally sets to open from tomorrow (6th May) with 33% workforce after the long lockdown.

The announcement came today afternoon post marathon meetings between ACP, SHO Kalkaji, and SDM Kalkaji and the delegation led by PCAIT (Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology) officials  – Alok Gupta, President and Saket Kapur, General Secretary; Executive President – FONA (Federation of Nehru Place Association) AK Singh and Managing Director, Cache Infotech – Alok Gupta.

Finally, the delegation was able to clear the ambiguity around the government order with the authorities regarding opening of offices in the commercial complexes that no retail store would open but other offices would open with 33% of staff strength.

Later however, Dept. CM, Delhi, Manish Sisodia Confirmed it through his tweet that the police and the administration has been instructed about the same that they would not create hindrance in opening of the private office in the business cluster.

The PCAIT officials explained that as advised, the offices would open as per the MHA guidelines. The head of the organization would keep vigilance of the practices laid out by the government that every employee would have Aarogya Setu App in their phones. They would wear protective gears including face masks, maintain social distance and necessary hygiene to be maintained.

Incidentally, Nehru Place is the largest computer market in Asia with approximately 8000 offices and 1000 retail outlets. The place employs more than 500, 000 people and another 20, 000 people are dependent on the business cluster for their livelihood. The daily transaction of the cluster is believed to be Rs.25 crore per day. The prolonged lockdown means huge loss to the business owners and growing unemployment and unrest among the people who are dependent on the business centres in Nehru Place.

By opening the offices in commercial complexes and business centres of Nehru Place would certainly bring happiness to the employees and workers who are dependent on this market.
