Zoho’s Ulaa Wins Indian Web Browser Development Challenge

Zoho

A Privacy-First, Secure Browsing Solution Recognized for Innovation

Zoho’s homegrown browser, Ulaa, has been crowned the winner of the Indian Web Browser Development Challenge (IWBDC), a competition organized by MeitY, CCA, and C-DAC under India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The challenge, which spanned three rigorous phases—Ideation, Prototype, and Productisation—highlighted indigenous browser innovations meeting global standards.

Ulaa stood out for its privacy-first design, zero data monetization, and advanced security features, including machine learning-based phishing detection and CCA Root integration. It also offers robust ad-blocking, multilingual support, and a 24-hour security patch policy to ensure a seamless, safe browsing experience.

“Competitions like IWBDC foster technological self-reliance,” said Mani Vembu, CEO of Zoho. “Ulaa redefines browsing by treating privacy as a fundamental right, not a business model. While ensuring an ad-free, secure experience for individuals, Ulaa Enterprise empowers businesses with productivity and security tools that safeguard sensitive information and minimize risks.
