Collaboration to align Llama Stack and vLLM, bringing scalable, open-source AI to the enterprise edge

In a landmark move to shape the future of enterprise AI, Red Hat and Meta have announced a strategic collaboration to accelerate the adoption of open-source generative AI technologies. The alliance, revealed during Red Hat Summit 2025, focuses on integrating Meta’s Llama Stack and the high-performance vLLM inference platform into the Red Hat AI ecosystem.

This initiative marks Red Hat’s Day 0 support for Meta’s latest Llama 4 model, enabling enterprises to build and deploy next-gen AI applications and agents across hybrid environments. Together, the companies aim to democratize AI by championing open, interoperable frameworks that streamline the gen AI lifecycle—from model development to inference serving.

“This is the open future of AI, and one that Red Hat and Meta are ready to meet.”

— Mike Ferris, Chief Strategy Officer, Red Hat

“Red Hat and Meta both recognize that AI’s future success demands not only model advancements but also inference capabilities that let users maximize the breakthrough capabilities of next-generation models,” said Mike Ferris, Senior VP and CSO, Red Hat.

Meta’s Ash Jhaveri emphasized the broader impact: “Together with Red Hat, we are paving the way for a future where Llama models and tools become the backbone of enterprise AI.”

Red Hat is also contributing directly to the Llama Stack project, providing developers greater flexibility and choice in building agentic AI applications. Meanwhile, Meta continues to back vLLM as a critical inference platform under the PyTorch ecosystem.

The collaboration aligns with Gartner’s projection that over 80% of enterprise apps will embed generative AI by 2026, signaling a shift toward accessible, scalable AI powered by open-source innovation.
