In an exclusive interaction with SME Channels, Sanjoy Mukherjee, Senior Director – Technology Alliances & Channels, Oracle India shares his company’s Channel Predictions for the year 2022. Edited excerpts

What major market and channel trends would you forecast for 2022?

With all that the last year taught us, the one imperative that businesses will have to carry into the current year is that constant change is now at the core of every business. With that, business will have to build a robust digital foundation to navigate the situation and ensure continuity, leading to a major trend of higher cloud adoption by enterprises across sectors. This is supported by key market researches including Statista which predicts that organisations worldwide will spend an eye-popping US$1.78 trillion on cloud and other “digital transformation” initiatives in 2022.

While cloud has been empowering businesses – big or small, for decades now, however, now as companies become keener than ever before to accelerate migration of critical workloads to cloud, the demand can only be met by an efficient partner network. In the current year, as customers mature their cloud game, a strong partner network will become an imperative in ensuring faster and better ways of empowering customers towards building their businesses. Channel partners will be expected to ensure better experience by offering deeper insights in various important areas and ultimately help businesses realize performance, better security and cost saving. Another key trend would be faster adoption of emerging technologies like AI/ML, blockchain, chatbots to ensure efficiency. As the organisations increase their dependency on these technologies, partners will have to up their expertise and bring in key consulting skills for a complete experience.

What’s your channel focus? What expectation do you have from the channel community?

Oracle with its four decades of experience, is the only hyper-scale cloud provider that offers a full stack of cloud solutions. This includes comprehensive hybrid options, IaaS, PaaS, as well as SaaS. Being an extremely customer focused organisation, we aim to help them gain maximum value from their cloud investments and ensure that their business goals are achieved. For this, we highly rely on our partner network. This is proved by the fact that partners account for 80% of all Oracle transactions from an Asia Pacific region.

As we consider partners an extension of ourselves, we therefore aim to enable them in every possible way through our Oracle PartnerNetwork program which is a cloud-first partner program. Through this we ensure acceleration of transition to cloud for our partner organisation and support them in acquiring new cloud capabilities and specializations to match up with the ever changing environment. Our partner organisations are familiarized with the technology and how it can be integrated in their businesses, ultimately helping with our goal of making the business of customers efficient. We also continue to expand our partner ecosystem to ensure that the customers are leveraging complete advantages of Oracle’s Gen – 2 Cloud, including Oracle Autonomous Database. This, in turn, helps customers reduce their costs, ensure reliability, and increase security.
